Sol.: When structural or machine member is subjected to moment about the longitudinal axis of it, the member twists and shear stress is induced in the every cross section of member.
This type of mode of loading is called as TORSION. And twisting moment is referred to as TORQUE.
Example: Screw driver, Door knob, drill bit and shaft.
