Task
This assignment is individual. Each student is expected to hand in a document (word or pdf) in which the following questions will be addressed. Each question must be numbered as below.
1. The human resource function encompasses a number of different activities which can be grouped in 6 areas. Please list those 6 areas and briefly describe them making sure you give two (2) practical, concrete examples of each one. (approx 500 words)
2. What is the difference between a generalist and a specialist in the HR function? Indicate which one is more likely to be found in a smaller business and explain the reasons why. (approx 300 words)
3. Is it possible for a small business not to have a dedicated HR function/person? Justify your answer and illustrate with an example. (approx 300 words)
4. Please explain what is a code of conduct and give two (2) examples of topics addressed in an ethics/compliance training. (approx 300 words)
For the following question, please refer to the "The Case of BAE Systems" pdf.
5. The human resource function is influence by external factors. Identify the two (2) external factors mentioned in the text, explicitly or not, and describe what the BAE Systems HR did to adapt to those circumstances. (approx 500 words)
6. Describe one action, not mentioned in the text you would have undergone as a HR professional in order to support BAE System strategies. State to which of the six (6) HR functional areas this action is part of. (approx 300 words)
