Part 1: Researching and planning requirements
You receive an email from Susan Bamford, Acting CEO.
Subject: Development plan for integrating marketing and data analysis
Hello,
At the last senior management meeting there was discussion about changing the structure of the operations of our company.
The key factor behind this is due to the fact that there are somehesitations from potential customers to borrow from an online business lender if it is not a bank, in the midst of a growing number of consumers who prefer to be served fast, with simple and flexible options. Although there is no evidence to indicate this is affecting our sales figures at the moment, it is senior management's view that we should better integrate our marketing and data analysis procedures to come up with a strategy to increase our credibility in the market.
As the Organisational Development specialist, you and your team have been delegated the responsibility of overseeing this organisational development plan. You will report directly to senior management, as they will be jointly responsible for approving any plans that are developed.
The organisation's plan and objectives for 2019 and the development plan brief on integrating our marketing and data analysis procedures will be discussed further in our meeting this Friday.
Regards,
Susan Bamford
Acting CEO
Note: The details of the organisation, its business plan, goals and development plan brief must be gathered and discussed in a meeting with your Trainer/ Assessor that would act as your organisation's CEO in a simulated business/ workplace environment.
You are to book a meeting time and prepare a meeting agenda to seek clarification from the Acting CEO between Week 1 to Week 4.
Part 2: Prepare an Organisational Development Plan
Complete these tasks:
1. Using relevant workplace resources that you gathered in the researching and planning stage, prepare a draft of an organisational development plan for senior management to consider. The plan should include details on the following:
o The development plan's goals and objectives and possible measures of success
o Key personnel and their roles in implementing the proposed development plan
o A list of the stakeholders that need to be consulted, with an outline of what their needs and competing demands may potentially include
o A stakeholder consultation and communication strategy that outlines what needs to be communicated, who will receive the communication and how it will be communicated
o Strategies that will be used to gather stakeholder feedback throughout the implementation phase
o A proposed time line with milestones to achieve full implementation
o An outline of resources that will be required to implement the proposed development plan
o An outline of possible risks and an assessment of the effects that may exist with the implementation of the development program
o An evaluation of the proposed development program in terms of the costs, benefits and potential risks
You are to meet with various stakeholders of the organisation to gather their needs and demands between Week 3 and Week 5.
You are to submit your draft plan for the senior management team to review in Week 6.
Your project plan must be no longer than 2500-word limit and be read-proof on the use of appropriate English grammar, spelling and punctuation. The Executive Summary, Table of Content, meaningful Part Headings and page numbers must be included as part of the standards in writing a business project plan.
2. While senior management is considering your draft plan, there are several other documents that can be prepared in expectation that the draft development plan will be approved. Prepare each of the following and collate them into a single document:
o A process to resolve problems that are raised by key stakeholders - this should also include a recommended process for allowing teams to develop problem-solving skills so that they can actively contribute to the resolution process
o A process to manage possible conflict that may develop
o A plan that outlines appropriate steps, corrective actions and interventions for perceived problems that may be encountered through the implementation of the development program
o A plan to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the development program as it is being implemented, including key success measures to determine the success of the program.
You are to submit the above document and present the plan verbally to the senior management team in Week 7.
Part 3: Monitoring and Evaluation of the Plan
Scenario: After three months of implementation, you have a meeting with the Acting CEO and receive feedback from monitoring processes and organisational changes.
1. Submit a report reviewing the organisational development plan. The report must:
a. Monitor the plan's implementation.
b. Review the time frames of the plan.
c. Review the budget of the plan.
d. Evaluate the plan's implementation against its objectives.
e. Adapt the plan for changes in circumstances, such as organisational changes or feedback from monitoring processes
You are to submit this report in Week 8.
