Assignment
The accurate control of a nuclear reactor is important for power generation as well as safety.
Assuming the number of neutrons present is proportional to the power level, an ionization chamber is used to measure the power level. The current io is proportional to the power level. The position of the graphite control rods moderates the power level.
- Develop the open-loop transfer function of your system from block diagram notation and formation of component equations.
- Assign reasonable component operating parameters for MATLAB analysis.
- Define desirable performance measures, e.g. maximum rise time, minimum settling time, etc.
- Develop root locus for the closed-loop system with variable gain K.
- Investigate the values of K that can produce the desirable performance measures.
- Compile group report and submit to Blackboard.
Features of Report
Are system description and the required system performance defined clearly?
Are the components correctly modelled with equations?
Is the open loop system defined correctly as block diagram?
Has the root locus developed correctly?
Has the gain computed for the defined system performance?
