When it comes to what is more important for an organization: the ability to be efficient of the ability to adapt to its environment, I believe the ability to adapt is more important. Being efficient can show the ability to adapt to its environment. Although both of these things are essentially hand and hand with each other and are both very important for the organization being efficient can save a company. Being able to adapt to its environment allows employees to still able to think critically, be innovative, and be creative.

Being efficient is great but it can lead to employees focused on getting their goals done in a specific time frame and getting into the same habits. When it comes to the trade-offs that must occur to achieve adaptability versus efficient this would include how an organization that would find the team that can be adaptable. I would advise my CEO to have an open mind when hiring staff and hire staff that also has an open mind because when environment is changing it is important that the employees can accept change. Work processes that increase efficiency, and improve or maintain excellent customer service mean a changed way of operating. The CEO would need to develop strategies with the team to accomplish these tasks. (Yale, 2023)
