Develop a 10-minute persuasive presentation on an information technology topic you strongly support. Select a topic provided by your instructor, or submit your own idea for approval. Examples include the following:
1. Educational merits of video games
2. Challenges of a paperless office
3. Organizational effectiveness of telecommuting
4. The virtual workplace
Incorporate a 6- to 8-slide Microsoft PowerPoint presentation or another form of media identified of Public Speaking.
Write a preparation outline.
1. Your delivery will be extemporaneous, using a speaking outline. This presentation requires considerable research and skillful use of persuasion methods. Special emphasis must be provided to evidence and reasoning. This assignment stresses audience analysis and adaptation.
2. Follow Monroe's Motivated Sequence of Public Speaking, and include a measurable final action step in your presentation.
Deliver your presentation.
1. For Local Campus, deliver a 10-minute oral presentation or use the Online campus method with instructor approval.
2. For Online Campus, record a 10-minute podcast, movie clip, or other audio file. Submit the audio link and Microsoft PowerPoint to your facilitator. You may submit your link copied and pasted to a Microsoft Word document or as directed by your instructor.
Provide feedback by filling out an Individual Presentation Evaluation Form for each presentation as directed by your instructor. Your instructor may assign an evaluation for each class member, by team, or in small-groups. This week's presentation is graded on all subheadings of the form.
