Develop a gantt chart for a workplace

Assignment:

Develop a Gantt Chart for a workplace.

A Gannt Chart (see link below) is a chart that shows a timeline for the work to be completed with tasks assigned to individuals. It is a visual representation of the activities needed completed by each individual in the project and displays the overlap or interaction of the activities across the timeline. Typically, the left side (rows) lists the activities and the top (columns) lists the time scale. Tasks are represented by horizontal bars and may be labeled or color-coded for those assigned to the task.

Example of Gantt Chart Development can be found at: https://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newPPM_03.htm

However, the recommendation is that you open a new Excel spreadsheet. Go to open and either scroll through templates or type in either Project Planner or Agile GANTT chart. You can use these templates and adapt them to your breakdown of the project. Please ensure that you rename your chart and add a start and end date.

Project Scenario: You work at a biotech company and you were put in charge of a research project to sample soil bacterium at large-scale farming operations in the county. You need develop a timeline to show the Principal Investigator so they will know where you are in the process during updates at meetings. You will be allowed one person to assist you with the planning. At the completion of the timeline a report will be submitted to the Principal Investigator that includes all pertinent information.

What is important, is the process... the step by step logical thinking. By engaging in this activity you learn to create a process which can be applied not only to school but projects outside the classroom. This is an introductory project management type activity. Please post your GANTT chart and a paragraph about your decisions and set up as well as any references.

What you will submit: for the discussion you will submit your GANTT chart and as the written portion, you will submit a "final report" to the PI that includes all pertinent information (number of locations, number of samples, frequency of sampling, outsource or in-house testing, data analysis projection, etc. )
