Assignment Task: The Company Is Coca Cola
1. You are being asked to assume that your particular company operates a single DC that services all of Canada. It is important to understand this assumption - regardless of the actual number of DCs that exist today (actual), you must assume that the company operates using a "single DC located at their home office location (city)".
You are the Vice President of Supply Chain for your chosen company. You have been asked to report that will assist in the selection of a new distribution centre location. For your first challenge, you must select a new location and support why you have selected this location using your learning's from this course.
This challenge, you will need to provide the location of your current DC and consider a region in Canada that may need to be serviced by a new DC. In this challenge you must provide a specific location you would recommend and then factors that also need to be considered before making the final determination. You can assume that the demand for your products is correlated to the population.
2. Describe what the impacts are of potentially opening this new DC. You must demonstrate a depth of understanding here. Simply stating potential impacts is not enough, you need to consider how the impacts you identify are interconnected.
3. Recommendation on your opinion of whether your company should own and operate the new DC or if you believe you should outsource all or a portion of this to a third party. You again must demonstrate a connection to your course learning's and apply these to this challenge.
4. Develop a detailed risk management plan for your new Distribution Centre. Again, in this challenge, you are being asked to develop a risk management plan that would apply to the "opening of this new Distribution Centre" using your course concepts.
