Determining the bias
a. The instructor will provide you with the "correct" lengths for each string. Plot the correct values on the plots of the data made previously. What do you see?
b. It is quite likely that the true value is not at the center of the data display. This discrepancy between the center of the measurements and the true value is called bias. Bias is a property of the measurement system, not of an individual person making a guess. Does the "system" of guessing string lengths appear to be bi~ ased? What factors might be causing the bias?
c. Does knowledge of the bias change your answer or reasoning on part 5?
