Determining plane of maximum shear stress with axis of shaft

1) Describe Landing Gear Structure in detail.

2) Deduce the expression for Euler’s formula when one end of column is fixed and the other end free.

3) Rectangular block of material is subjected to the tensile stress of 100 N/mm2 on one plane and the tensile stress of 50 N/mm2 on a plane at right angles, together with shear stresses of 60 N/mm2 on the same planes, determine:

(a) Direction of the principal planes

(b) Magnitude of the principal stresses

(c) Magnitude of the greatest shear stresses.

4) Crankshaft 200mm in diameter is subjected to the bending moment of 18.5 KN-m and twisting moment of 27.75 KN-m. Determine the greatest shear stress. Also determine the plane of maximum shear stress with respect to axis of the shaft.
