Prepare a schedule for a four-machine manufacturing cell using the Slack Time procedure and the following processing time data for the cell. Routing for each job begins at machine 1 and ends at machine 4.
Setup time is one hour when a change from one family to another is made and zero if parts of the same family are processed.
a) Using the conventional version of the Slack Time procedure, determine the sequence for processing jobs 1 through 4 at machine 1 (and through the remaining machines)
b) Using the family version of the Slack Time procedure, determine the sequence for processing jobs 1 through 4 at machine 1 (and through the remaining machines)
c) Using the Quick Heuristic procedure, determine the sequence for processing jobs 1 through 4 at machine 1 (and through the remaining machines)
d) Compare the results obtained in (a), (b), and (c) above based on the make-span performance measure.
