1. For the rectangular trough of infinite length as shown in Fig. 1, determine the potential function V (x,y) at any point (x,y) inside the region. For V0 = 100V, b = 2a, choose a and plot the potential for different values of (x,y) in the range 0 ≤ x,y ≤ 10 m. Draw conclusions.
2. For the coaxial cable shown in Fig. 2 below, find its capacitance if the space between the two concentric plates is filled with an insulating material with permittivity ε F/m. For b = 2a, L = 100m, plot the capacitance for different values of a in the range 0 ≤ a ≤ 10 cm. Draw conclusion.
3. For the coaxial cable of Fig. 2 above assume that the insulating material has conductivity Ó (S/M). Show that the resistance per unit length of the cable in Ω /m is given by
R = In(b/a) / 2πÓ
Again, for b = 2a, plot the resistance for values of a range 0 ≤ a ≤ 10 cm. Draw conclusions.
4. Write a Report with an introduction of the kinds of problems that you are solving in this project. Then, consider each problem in a separate section. Solve the problem, discuss the results, and make conclusions. Finally, make an overall conclusion on what you what achieved in this project.
