A circle of diameter D lies on a horizontal table and carries a current I moving clock wise around the circle. Determine the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field at the center of the circle. Now, cut the wire and lay it out so that the center of the wire is perpendicular to the center of the circle. Using the same current find the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field at the original center. Which field is greater; the field of the loop or the horizontal wire? Is this reasonable?
