Problem: Texas Instruments created the Ethics Quick Test to help its employees define ethical conduct. The end result can be used as a "quick test" to help an employee see a decision in a more objective and ethical light. The 7 questions included in the Quick Test are as follows:
- Is the action legal?
- Does it comply with our values?
- If you do it, will you feel bad?
- How will it look in the newspaper?
- If you know it is wrong, don't do it!
- If you're not sure, ask.
- Keep asking until you get an answer.
The Four-Way Test is a nonpartisan and nonreligious guide for Rotarians' personal and professional interactions. The Four-Way Test uses the following questions to determine the ethical nature of a decision:
- Is it the TRUTH?
- Is it FAIR to all concerned?
- Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
- Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
The Seneca People's Guidelines include the following questions:
- Am I happy in what I'm doing?
- Is what I'm doing adding to the confusion?
- What am I doing to bring about peace and contentment?
- How will I be remembered when I am gone?
