Assignment task: The purpose of this assignment is to allow you to examine where the nutrients in your diet come from, and to determine how your food choices can impact your health.
Part 1 overview: Students will identify a food source for all macronutrients (proteins, carbs, fats) as well as micronutrients (major vitamins and minerals) by collecting data on their own diet for two full days. After obtaining data for the first day, they will then analyze the shortcomings and successes of their food and drink choices for the day. They will then revise and implement changes on the second day to improve the overall nutritional value of their meal planning.
Part 2 overview: You will identify 1 macronutrient (protein, fat, or carbohydrate) and 1 micronutrient (vitamin or mineral) that is out of balance in your diet (either over or under) and you will research how that imbalance could effect your health.
