Determine how the research questions and hypotheses you

Discussion 1: Focus-Analyzing Quantitative Studies

Thus far in the course, you have been exposed to different research approaches. In your work this week, beginning with this Discussion, you will explore quantitative studies to obtain a more in-depth look at quantitative methods and their application.

In this Discussion, you will consult and review quantitative studies to determine the ways in which they could inform your potential research. Perhaps these studies may provide a model, research instrument, theoretical framework, or hypothesis that might inform your own evolving thinking on your potential research.

To prepare for this Discussion:

• Return to your literature review and peruse any quantitative studies you found.

• Conduct additional searches through the Walden Library for relevant quantitative studies that pertain directly to your topic or to related topics and could inform a quantitative study of your topic.

Post a 350- to 500-word synthesis of twoquantitative studies that includes how the study might contribute to your own potential research topic, either directly or tangentially. Explain how the research instrument, theoretical framework, and hypothesis from each study inform your research approach. Also, post at least two questions that will elicit suggestions and further responses from your colleagues.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the reading(s) and/or media segment(s) and use APA format.

Discussion 2: Focus-Quantitative Method and Designs

Quantitative methodology has as its focus collecting and analyzing measurable data, establishing cause and effect, and testing hypotheses. Quantitative methods quantify and seek to make conclusions from a numeric and standards-based assessment of the phenomenon being researched.

In this Discussion, you will take a more in-depth look at quantitative methods, focusing on survey strategies and experimental strategies of inquiry.

To prepare for this Discussion:

• Review Chapter 8, "Quantitative Methods," in the Creswell text.
• Review the media program, Quantitative Methods: An Example.
• Review Quantitative Design and Analysis found in the Research Design and Analysis area of the Research Resources and Tutorials webpage.
• Consider how survey and experimental methods-including components, terminology, elements, statistics, etc.-are similar and different.
• Determine how the research questions and hypotheses you developed in the Week 4 Assignment might be served by a survey or an experimental method.

Post, a 350- to 500-word evaluation that compares survey strategies of inquiry with experimental strategies of inquiry. Evaluate the appropriateness of using surveys and experimentation to your own potential research questions and hypotheses you identified in the Week 4 Assignment. Include at least two questions that will elicit comments and suggestions from your colleagues.

Be sure to support your postings and responses with specific references to the reading(s) and/or media segment(s) and use APA format.
