Details of task: Write an essay on one of the following topics:
1. How does academic writing address the relationship between theory, observation and reliability?
In your response to this question, you should make reference to the many features of academic writing discussed in the unit. You should also use a number of examples from academic articles to illustrate your key points.
2. Images used in academic writing are not simply illustrations, they are also arguments.
Analyse this statement using examples of academic writing (journal articles and books) that contain images or diagrams. In addition to analysing the structure of the images, you should examine how they are both framed by the text and presented as evidence.
3. What role does the writer's voice play in presenting academic research?
In addition to research in academic writing, it is important that you provide many different examples of how voice is used in academic writing. This will involve comparing research writing across the disciplines.
I will prefer if the writer chooses to write question number 3.
