DCM Converter Design & Simulation Buck, Boost, and Buck-Boost
(a) Derive (step-by-step) the DCM conversion ratios M(D,K) for the buck, boost, and buck-boost converters. Make sure you derive the expressions for K and Kcrit for the three converters.
(b) Using MS Excel, generate plots of the DCM conversion ratios M(D, K) versus D for the three converters. Show how the M(D, K) versus D changes as K changes.
(c) Design and simulate a buck-boost converter using ideal switches. Switching frequency is of your choice. Ratings are of your choice.
(i) Show how your converter operates in CCM, CCM/DCM boundary, and in DCM. Explain when and why does your converter enters into DCM.
(ii) Plot your input and output voltages, inductor current for the three operating modes of part (i).
(iii) Comment on how the output voltage and inductor current varies from CCM to DCM in both step-up and step-down operation modes of the buck-boost converter.
