Assignment Task:
For the hypothetical aquaculture project you have proposed in your local area (RAS facility in Buffalo, NY), evaluate it for any possible positive and negative impacts with a summary in the form of a simple Environmental Impact Statement.
Your EIS will be much more basic than the evaluation of a major project like a bridge, but it must include:
A description of the proposed development (Purpose and Need; Proposed Action and Alternatives; Affected Environment; Expected Impacts; Local Approvals Needed),
The data necessary to identify and assess both the positive and negative impacts that the development is likely to have on the local environment,
A description of the measures employed to mitigate/enhance these effects,
A non-technical summary.
Student developed simple EIS, emphasizing organisms utilized at the facility (Yellow perch, walleye, Steelhead trout) and how their use may be a solution to local or regional harvest and production issues.
Species constraints, compatibilities and requirements, and potential threats to successfully culture organisms at the site.
