Summarize - The American Nurse Association extends this definition by describing the various aspects of the nursing process and its impact on patients. The nursing profession protects, promotes, and optimizes health, facilitating healing and preventing illness (American Nurse Association, 2017). In the situation that an individual is looking for services concerning genitalia or reproductive issues, it is within the nurse's scope to help connect these patients to these services. The problems that can arise are differing opinions and beliefs on such services as gender-reaffirming care and Planned Parenthood. As a Christian and a nurse who works in an environment that experiences these situations, I am often challenged by situations regarding these issues in my workplace. When I am in these situations, I am reminded of what God's word states about caring for those with whom you may disagree. Romans 12:20-21 states, "Instead, 'If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads. Don't let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good." (New Living Translation, 1996/2007 Romans 12:20-21) As Christians and nurses, we must strive for excellence in our care.
