A month after his 17th birthday, he got his driver’s license and started looking to purchase a car with money he had been saving that he earned since ninth grade by cutting lawns and shoveling snow in the neighborhood. Tom had a used car with a sale sign on it that was ten years old and had over 100,000 miles on it. He was asking $4400 dollars. Harry saw the car and without saying anything to his parents, went to Tom with an offer of $3,800 dollars. Tom and Harry finally agreed to $4.000 dollars as the purchase price and Tom had prepared the paperwork which both he and Harry signed. Explain on what legal basis may Harry get out of this contract if he decides that he doesn’t want to go through with this and indicate what type of contract this is.
Q2. John lives in a state where the use of marijuana is illegal both for medical and non-medical reasons. He does a deal with Ron who is known in his neighborhood for drug dealing but has not yet been detected for such by the police. Under contract law is this an enforceable contract? Explain your answer.
Q3. Joan had a heart attack while walking to work and she fell down on the sidewalk in an unconscious state. Several people came rushing to her aid and someone called 911. An emergency ambulance rushed her to the emergency ward of a local hospital where she had several nurses and doctors diligently working on her. So she was taken care of there and survived. While no actual contract was formed between Joan and the hospital, describe what aspect of contract law that you read about in this chapter would cover this situation.
