Here is what I choose for my topic I was thinking of doing something along the lines of "What Increases Risk for PTSD in Military Service Members? " The factors and rates that may place a solider at risk for PTSD and the experience of prior stressful life events. Why everyone who experiences a trauma does or doesn't develop posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The aim of this study would to determine the risk and resiliency factors for ptsd in a sample of people exposed to trauma. So I think the population would be the "Military soldiers" I guess the variables would be something along the lines of maybe premilitary risk factors, military risk factors, and post military risk factors for developing ptsd. we are closer to week 5.
Here is what my professor said:
OK. I would try and keep it simple for this assignment. You need to define Military Soldiers. All enlisted? Only those who have been in combat situations? Both male and female?

Next, you mentioned risk factors as a variable. This would be good but don't try to do pre, post and current. Just pick one of those. Again, let's keep it simple. Or, you could do resiliency factors. Again, don't do both.

There's a few ways to do this. If you wanted to assess the same group of individuals before and after their combat experience, this would be a t test for dependent means. We get to it during Week Four. If you wanted to assess a group of individuals who experienced combat and a group of individuals who did not experience combat, that would be a t test for independent means. Again, Week Four. If you just wanted to correlate, you could look at the number of risk factors or resiliency factors with the severity of symptoms. This would be two different assessments and you would correlate the results to see if there's a relationship.
