A. Describe three of the challenges that autistic crime victims or witnesses may face as emergency responders arrive on the scene. Identify two behaviors the autistic individual may display to indicate the stress or challenges he or she is managing.
B. Propose at least two ways that emergency medical personnel can reduce the challenges/stressors for an autistic individual upon arrival at an emergency situation. Propose at least two ways that responding police officers can reduce the challenges/stressors at an emergency situation.
C. Based on the articles reviewed, assess the law enforcement response strategies used to work with autistic individuals. Analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the response strategies. Recommend one or two strategies that could improve outcomes for officer safety and communication processes with autistic individuals in communities across the country during emergency response.
