Assignment task: Your Case from the Field
Present a short case (one to three paragraphs) in which you encountered a value conflict around one of the aforementioned areas of conflict. How do you understand this conflict and the context in which it occurred? You do not have to explain how this conflict was resolved-only the conditions of the case are of importance. Use the literature as a means of explaining the decision-making process. The final short paragraph will be, for this module, to assess the area of conflict and how you believe the conflict should have been managed to avoid dysfunctional outcomes and any breach of duty.
Once you have posted your case, select another case and reply to it, addressing the following:
1. Identify and describe the value conflict in the case to which you are replying.
2. Identify the values of the parties involved in the value conflict, using the NASW Code of Ethics. Identify any personal values that may also be present. You do not have to describe how you would resolve this conflict.
3. Your final short paragraph will be to highlight any misjudgments that may have been encountered where values were mistaken for knowledge, or knowledge was mistaken for values.
