Read chapters 2-3 in Dunbar's Never Caught. Then answer the following set of questions:
Describe the how slavery was practiced (to the extent it was) and regarded in New York? How did this differ from Mt. Vernon, Virginia, and the other southern states? Give examples from the text. Then describe Ona's transition to Northern life (according to Dunbar). What were some of her new roles, duties, and expectations? Give examples.
