Describe the social purposes of prize fighting

Problem:

After the death of Thomas McCoy in an 1842 prize fight, New York Tribune editor Horace Greeley wrote a scathing editorial, spread over two days, attacking the culture of prize fighting and its relationship to the working class of New York City. You have read it in the module. Imagine yourself a working-class supporter of the culture of prize fighting and pen a response to Greeley, as a "Letter to the Editor" of 500-750 words, in defense of prize fighting. Don't just attack Greeley; try to explain the appeal, allure, and/or social purposes of prize fighting in a way which might persuade the middle-class readers of the Tribune.
