Problem: Regarding assessment skills and advanced health and physical assessments, the role of the PMHNP-BC is supportive in nature and ensures the following: (pg 79-80) a. The PMHNP-BC is trusted more than primary care providers and is able to support the client with primary care needs b. Neurological exams should be performed by a specialist in the area of neurology rather than psychiatry c. The PMHNP-BC is confident and competent to perform procedures such as breast exam and pap smears d. Specific focus and interventions are limited to conditions of a psychiatric nature while ruling out presentations possibly caused by non-psychiatric conditions.
