Project
Design and develop electronics - computer systems projects, you are required to design a product using electronics.
Task 1: Describe the product
Describe the product in you are planning to design using a brief report with minimum of 300 words.
In this task you have to give details about the expected functionality, features, where it can be used, how it will be powered plus any other special features you are planning to include in the product.
Give an estimate the expected amount of money you are planning to spend to produce the product. This can be an estimate in this section, as you will be doing a more accurate calculation later.
In addition to the written report, add a neatly drawn diagram illustrating the product with two or more sides of the finished product. ( note: you can use drawing functions of MSWORD to draw this picture)
Mark the drawing with dimensions of the product and clearly show positioning of any controls, power connectors, network connectors etc. in the diagram
You can draw a 3-D view and front and side elevations to show these details
Task 2: Safety report
Discuss the safety features you would incorporate in to the design for the safety of users and to comply with industry requirements in Australia.
Submit Task 1 and 2 on or before 24th of May, by emailing your report to the teacher
Task 3: Design Circuit Diagram, and Develop a Bill of Material and order parts
Once your receive approval to proceed from the teacher, draw the circuit diagram using a CAD package. You can use a freely available Schematic Capture software or any other package you are familiar with.
Save your circuit diagram as a pdf file and send it to the teacher on or before 1st of June 2016.
Task 4: Design and build the prototype
You can start building the prototype of the product before finishing task 3,
Under this task you have to build the prototype and test it for functionality. Since you will be doing this project of your own you have to provide evidence of the product development by taking photos or videos and sending them to the teacher for feedback.
Once the prototype is functioning as expected bring it over to TAFE and demonstrate it to the teacher. You need to make prior arrangement with the teacher to demonstrate your prototype.
Task 5: Build the circuit and test it
Once the prototype is demonstrated, complete the product design by adding the enclosure and other controls, making it a completed product suitable for general use
Task 6: Complete documentation and submit
Compile all your documents, circuit diagram, costing and functional reports and submit for as the final assessment.
