Course Objective and Acote Standards:

Problem 1: Identify and describe the practice models used in psychosocial OT, and the medical, psychological theories compatible with those practice models.

Apply scientific evidence, theories, models of practice, and frames of reference that underlie the practice of occupational therapy to guide and inform interventions for persons, groups, and populations in a variety of practice contexts and environments.

Problem 2: Identify and describe OT evaluation methods and treatment activities applicable to performance areas of self-care, work play and social participation, performance skills, patterns and context, through the continuum of preparatory, purposeful and occupation-based activities.

Problem 3: Design an OT intervention plan which includes occupation-based interventions, case management, and referrals as needed to improve client function and enhance community reintegration.

Identify and communicate to the occupational therapist the need to refer to specialists both internal and external to the profession including community agencies.

Problem 4: Demonstrate ability implement treatment plan, document, and provide referrals as needed under the supervision of an OT

Participate in the documentation of ongoing processes for quality management and   improvement (e.g., outcome studies analysis and client engagement surveys) and implement program changes as needed to demonstrate quality of services
