Describe the phenomenological account of empathy

Problem: Briefly explain your understanding the following passage from your course text related to phenomenological beliefs about empathy: "Rather than beginning with the presupposition that other minds are (invisible) entities accessible only through the projection of one's own mental states into otherwise inanimate bodies (Lipps), the phenomenological account of empathy begins by attempting to systematically articulate the sense and manner in which others are directly visible as minded persons" (88).

As much as possible, use close reading strategies (listed in our introductory notes to course assignments) and, having finished the chapter, derive your explanation mainly citing and explain parts from the passage itself without reverting back to the book.
