Problem
A. Describe endocrine regulation of calcium homeostasis in teleost fish by listing the relevant hormones, the organ or tissue source of those hormones, and whether each hormone is a hypocalcemic factor or a hypercalcemic factor.
B. Describe the one major difference in the cell or tissue source of calcium-regulating hormones seen between mammals and other terrestrial (i.e. non-aquatic) vertebrates.
C. Briefly explain, for mammals, which bone cells (osteoblasts or osteoclasts) have receptors for hypercalcemic factors and how activation of these receptors results in bone resorption and an increase in plasma calcium.
