Question 1 - Demographic Measures
Presented below are the number of males and females by age groups in the states and territories of South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT) on 30 June 2013. The number of births by woman's age group in 2013 and the number of deaths by age group in 2013 are also presented in the table below. Using the information provided, calculate the following demographic indicators for South Australia (SA) and the Northern Territory (NT) for 2013. Please keep 2 decimal places for all rates and use correct units of measurement:
i) Crude Birth Rate (CBR)
ii) Crude Death Rate (CDR)
iii) Total Fertility Rate (TFR)
iv) Percentage population distribution by age and sex
v) Present the populations of South Australia and the Northern Territory in two separate population pyramids.
vi) Describe the main differences in age structure at 2013 between South Australia and the Northern Territory, and briefly discuss the relationship between population age structure and consumer behaviour.
Please note that you could draw the pyramids by hand or using Excel. If the pyramids are drawn by hand, all labels have to be legible and scales have to be consistent. Pyramids should demonstrate percentages (%).

Question 2 - Population Growth and Markets
Please keep two decimal places for all rates
i) If the estimated population of Tokyo in Japan was 14,980,200 at 30/06/2005 and it was 13,047,500 at 30/06/2010, the total number of births for that period was 502,100 and the total number of deaths in the same period was 477,580. Net internal migration was 195,000. What are the natural increase and the net overseas migration for Tokyo between 2005 and 2010?
ii) If after 30/06/2010 the population of Tokyo grows continuously at a rate of 0.8% per annum, what will be the population on 31/12/2021?
iii) If the estimated population of Tokyo City is 13.16 million on 30/06/2020 and it will be 7.13 million on 31/12/2100, what is the average annual rate of population growth in Tokyo City between the period of 30/06/2020 and 31/12/2100?
iv) Briefly explain the importance of understanding population size and growth towards understanding markets.
Question 3 - Perspectives of Consumer Behaviour
Write a critical review of the literature on the perspectives on consumer behaviour. Your review needs to include three main perspectives introduced in the prescribed text book (e.g. reviewing three perspectives from economic, psychological, sociological, anthropological and other perspectives) and refer to at least three additional references other than the chapters in the prescribed text book. The length of the review is expected to be about 800 words.
