Question 1: Describe the key stages of the legislative process outlined in chapter 22, including committee hearings, mark-up sessions, and reporting out. In other words, how is a bill introduced and voted on in Congress before reaching the president's desk?

Question 2: Compare and contrast the views of Presidents Abraham Lincoln and George W. Bush regarding executive authority during times of crisis. How did each president interpret their constitutional powers in situations of emergency, and how did they justify their actions to the public and Congress. Hint: Give the assigned article by Pfiffner another read before answering this question.

Question 3: "Courts can empower state and federal executive action; Courts can empower minorities which do not possess the numerical strength to attain electoral victories; Courts may have an immediate impact on democratic processes." - Lecture Six. Give an example of how a court may perform one of the three statements above. Hint: There are many examples in history you may use. You may even expand upon the examples I gave in Lecture Six.
