Reflect on a professional encounter that you had with a patient.
1. Describe the encounter.
2. Describe the communication strategies used and identify the effectiveness of those strategies in that situation.
3. Based on evidence, how helpful were those strategies?
4. Describe how you knew whether they were effective or not.
5. Critique the experience for barriers encountered both from the patient perspective and yours (the provider).
6. And finally, if you could do it again, what other or different strategies of communication might you have used? Why?
