Describe the benefits and pitfalls of planning

Assignment task:

The thing that stood out to me was the benefits and pitfalls of planning. Planning is an important aspect not only when you work for a company, but in everyday life as well as studying for school. Planning is where you choose a goal and develop a strategy to achieve that specific goal.

The benefits of planning have several parts that are important and include being persistent as you want to work hard for extended periods of time to make sure that you have the right plan and if you need to make changes along the way to the end goal. One also wants to put in a lot of effort that will eventually show that your plan will work. One lastly should create tasks so that you know what the timeline is to achieve that goal.

However, there are pitfalls to every goal in which the original plan you set forth, needs to be changed. Certain tasks that were created, could have interfered with possible changes and can therefore create a false sense of certainty. You may feel like the goal was concrete, but changes that were made, may not work because planning is actually meant to be a guideline.

I chose this part of management because it has really helped me with planning out how I need to set aside a certain amount of time each day to study and complete my assignments for each class and not procrastinate to the point where everything is due at the last minute. Planning and learning about this, has shown me to develop an action plan which I will continue to utilize in my other classes I will be taking. Planning will also help me set goals strategically when I obtain a job after graduating and in my personal life. Setting goals by writing a plan helps you stay focused and achieve what decisions were made and make any changes to those plans if you find they are not working.
