Assignment Task: As we delve into this discussion topic, there are aspects of forensic psychology of which we must be mindful. As forensic psychologists, we should help eliminate stereotypes and be aware of biases that harm our clients (American Psychological Association [APA], 2013). The number one ethical guideline for psychologists is "do no harm." Also, forensic psychologists should never offer legal advice or opinions to their clients. However, we must understand the profession's legal aspects to assist the diverse population we serve.
We make every effort to work efficiently with patients and understand factors associated with age, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, socioeconomic status, or other relevant individual and cultural differences (APA, 2013). We aspire to practice competently and impartially.
