Problem
The late 19th century can be seen as a period when the United States underwent a transformation due to the new inventions that brought the mechanization and wonders of the Machine Age to both workplace and home. Discuss the increased pace of life in the America of the 1890s. Immigrants, as well as native-born farmers and city dwellers had to adapt to the changing "modern" world. Describe the adjustments each group had to make, as well as their striving for continuity. Did "progress" make their lives better or worse? Explain.
