Discusison Board: How Do Managers Motivate
As leaders, it is very important that we have the ability to assess our own motivation and the motivation of others around us. It is also important to recognize the key factors involved in motivation, or a lack thereof. Imagine or recall a situation in which you or someone you know was highly motivated, and a situation where motivation levels were very low.
Your Initial Post:
1. Briefly describe both situations.
2. Which theories describe the causes of the levels of motivation for each scenario? Explain why you believe these are applicable.
3. In your high motivation scenario, identify the characteristics of the situation or individuals that impacted your motivation. Support your identification with the motivation theories and research from this module.
4. In your low motivation scenario, describe techniques you as a leader would employ to increase motivation in this instance, and explain why they would work in this given situation.
The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
