Assignment task:
Submit two news articles that relate to state and local government and/or federalism. They can relate to something that we covered in this week's module or something that we haven't covered yet. Articles must be from a reputable news source. For each article, you will submit the link to the article, a brief summary of the article and a brief statement about it relates to this class.
Examples of topics discussed:
- Explain the weaknesses, shortcomings, and benefits in providing 'justice' through incarceration. The more specifics you can provide here, the better. Use both anecdotal evidence and empirical details and data from the readings.
- Describe potential alternatives to providing justice (to both offender and victims) other than incarceration.
- Evaluate and critique the alternative proposed by one of your colleagues.
