iii. Review the Twitter feed, locate an interesting article or issue and share your thoughts on this issue with the class.

iv. Compose a 140-character Tweet that shares your thoughts and opinions about the Tweet. Be mindful Twitter only allows 140 characters (be concise). Share this Tweet in the discussion.

Part II

i. Explore a social determinant issue in your community that may be impacting quality of life or health care. Take a picture of this issue as it may be represented on a billboard, or like Dr. Riley, a bus stop. Upload that picture into the discussion.

ii. Share your perspective about the social determinant issue with your class colleagues defining what role you might play in changing this social determinant in your community.

iii. Compose a 140-character Tweet that describes what you have shared with the class. Remember Twitter only allows 140 characters so you will need to be concise. Share this Tweet in the discussion.

i. Have you met with the decision makers at the practicum site to determine the type of problem they are having and ways in which your project might be developed to address this problem? What was the outcome of this meeting?

ii. Share your proposed PICOT question in question format. Is this PICOT question likely to change in the future?

iii. Describe the translation science model you will be using or are considering using as a part of your project.

iv. What is the current priority you have for the development of your project and do you believe you have support for this project from the practicum site decision makers?

ii. Discuss three legislative initiatives supported by the organization.

i. Explore the national initiatives and determine if these approaches have meaning within your community and can offer a positive solution to some of the healthcare issues facing your community.

ii. Discuss which strategies you would use to engage your local policymaker in a discussion about these national initiatives to advocate for change. Remember the excellent resources to determine national healthcare goals are at the NIH or Healthy People 2020 websites.

iii. Compose a Tweet that describes how the Global Burden of Disease is impacting your community. Remember to be concise as Twitter only allows 140 characters. Share your Tweet in the discussions.

iv. Finally, what are your thoughts on how Dr. Riley did with Congressman Aiken? What did she do correctly and what could she have improved? As you consider your initial meeting with a Congressman, would you have prepared additional information or in a different way? Share your thoughts and perspectives.

Assignment

Purpose

The purpose of this activity is to deepen learning through reflective inquiry. It will allow for expansion in self-awareness, identification of knowledge gaps, and assessment of learning goals.

Course outcomes
