Describe marine plastics reduction initiatives

Assignment task: Describe marine plastics reduction initiatives that are being run in one particular country or region (you can choose your country/region). You are encouraged to identify a country/region that you personally are interested in. NOTE: an 'initiative' can be a program, project or policy being run by government, non-governmental organizations or private industry. These initiatives might include: shoreline cleanups, intercepting plastics before they reach rivers, lakes and oceans, recycling plastics into new products, banning or reducing the use of certain plastics, carrying out education campaigns, etc. There is no minimum or maximum number of initiatives that you should review, but of course it might be difficult to go into enough depth if you only review, say, one initiative! Pay careful attention to the country or region you choose - for example, it would be impossible to summarize all of the plastic reduction initiatives for all of Canada! You would be far better off to choose a province or territory, or even a part of one Province (e.g. Greater Toronto, The BC Lower Mainland/Vancouver, The Great Barrier Reef, Bali). To make things more manageable, you might also choose a very small country or island Nation (e.g. Bermuda, Dominica, Maldives, Jamaica).
