CPCCBC4020A Build thermally efficient and sustainable structures

1. There are two (2) tasks you need to complete for Assessment Task 2.

2. All tasks must be completed in full and meet the defined assessment criteria in order for you to be deemed as satisfactory.

3. The tasks are to be completed in the workplace (or a simulated workplace).

4. The tasks are to be completed individually without assistance from other Participants, unless otherwise stated.

6. Your responses must be typed and, where applicable, be presented on appropriate workplace templates. Ensure all are attached securely to this Assessment Booklet.

Using the BAA Multi-use project plans and documentation, revision A, carry out the following tasks to check and assess the structural adequacy of the building.

ASSESS FOOTING DESIGN FOR ADEQUACY:

1. Using the BAA project plans, specification and documentation, and using the information below, calculate the total load on the column pad footing at Grid D2.
• Wind load to roof: 1.2kPa
• Live load to roof: 0.5kPa
• Roof Sheeting, Purlins, insulation, fixing and bracing, allow 17.5 kg/m2
• (Research the components that make up the roof system and verify this value.)
• Use the internet to research the weight of the rafter and column elements of the structure
• Reinforced concrete density 2400 kg/m3

2. Using the determination calculated above and the project documentation, identify whether the footing size is sufficient to meet the structural requirements

3. If the footing where found not to be sufficient, describe what design changes could be made to address this including design change measurements.

4. Describe how these changes would be certified and implemented to ensure compliance with NCC/BCA requirements including Industry Professionals and their role in the process.

The task will be carried out in a simulated builder's office environment and observed by your trainer. Your trainer will ask questions about the processes being undertaking in this activity to confirm your understanding.
