Transnational crime is defined as "... crime that takes place across national borders [and] has had profound consequences for the ordering of the world system." Transnational crime is especially problematic in states where the rule of law is weak and the government is unstable, as it can undermine the legitimacy of authority and economic growth. Transnational organized crime (TOC) is driven primarily by financial gain for their own organization. Identify the various factors that have vastly expanded transnational crime in recent years. What factors have contributed to the expansion of transnational crime? List the various types of TOC groups in the world today? Identify recommendations for improved law enforcement responses to transnational organized crime. Describe how law enforcement at all levels plans to address TOC in the future?
