After reading Anita Sarkeesian's blog, this made me so angry. The stuff they did were unnecessary. Social Media needs to change the ways their platforms operate. Online harassment is very easily done and there are very few consequences I think. I feel like they just put bandaids on a fundamental flawed structure. On a good note at least she was able to raise more than she expected.
Think of another example of women experiencing harassment when they enter male-dominated institutions from the past or present. A paper, titled"ill never be one of the boys" The university of Sydney published study findings that show women working in male dominant industries encounter daily gender harassment. It's about gender harassment of women working as pilots and automotive tradespeople. Significant research has examine sexual harassment in male-dominant occupations, but gender harassment-harassment that is not necessarily sexual in nature but is targeted at individuals , or a group of individuals, because of their sex or gender has received relatively less attention think that it has to do with societal expectations and beliefs about women leadership abilities. Or maybe they are afraid the women might make more money than they do.. Our society is often uncomfortable with women who behave in a way that is considered masculine.
