Assignment:
In this unit, you have gleaned multiple aspects related to successful classroom management. Although Ms. Herstory learned the critical significance of proper planning in the previous unit, as a new teacher, she is still discovering the complexities associated with classroom management. As her new faculty mentor, it is your job to provide her with advice. Based on the scenario that was provided at the beginning of the Unit IV Lesson and repeated below, what would you tell your mentee at this point? Your advice must be based on all that you have learned from the textbook as well as your research from an Online Library.
Ms. Herstory enters the classroom during the second week of class. Although she quickly learned that a lesson plan is critical for successful student outcomes, there are more factors looming that she has not fully uncovered, which will directly impact her students' level of knowledge acquisition each day. For instance, she notices that John, the captain of the football team, is always flirting with Tiffany, the head cheerleader. In fact, Tiffany was sitting on John's desk as Ms. Herstory entered the classroom, and she did not bother to get up once the bell rang, signaling the beginning of class.
On the other side of the room, Ms. Herstory notices Janet intensely packing on makeup while staring at the camera on her iPhone. She does not seem to hear the bell either. Furthermore, just as Ms. Herstory is about to loudly make an attempt to call the class to order, she sees a group of three girls laughing giddily at Toni. They have their phones in their hands and are posting comments to their Snapchat accounts about how lame she looks today. (Toni is a self-identified transgender female. Students are often posting derogatory comments about her on various social media platforms.)
1) Describe effective classroom management techniques that Ms. Herstory should embrace to increase learner self-regulation and create a community of learners.
2) Your response must illustrate the role of classroom management in creating a learning community. How should she address the bullying that has occurred in class? What disciplinary actions should she embrace
3) Additionally, you must discuss techniques that Ms. Herstory can integrate within her classroom, which could increase learner self-regulation. How could she teach the students to control their actions in order to respect the rights of their fellow learners?
Your case study should be a minimum of three pages in length; in addition to the three pages of content, include a title page and a references page. You are required to use at least four sources.
