Question: We discussed a number of different theories of authoritarian-ism. Note that the historical institutionalist theories, the economic theories, and the political culture theories all aim to explain both the emergence and the persistence of authoritarian regimes. Can these theories explain the emergence and persistence of hybrid regimes equally well? If so, demonstrate how. If not, what sorts of modifications might help them to do so?
