Case Study: Ronnie presents for counselling feeling depressed and unmotivated. You will be his counsellor. Ronnie is 32, single and works as an office administrator. Three months ago, Ronnie's hours were cut back to 20 hours per week. Consequently, Ronnie never seems to have enough money to make ends meet. Ronnie lives with a younger brother, who works at Woolworths fulltime, and essentially helps support Ronnie, making up the shortfall in rent and bills. They are quite close as siblings, however Ronnie feels indebted and guilty due to this financial situation, although the brother insists it is okay. This is not doing much for Ronnie's self-esteem either. Whilst Ronnie really enjoys the job, these limited hours make the situation very difficult. Ronnie cannot seem to get motivated to go job hunting however and has not even prepared a resume. Ronnie is also about 30 kg overweight and tries to diet but is failing.
