You can use the concept of semiotics in branding and advertising to tell a story or directly represent what you're trying to communicate. The concept of semiotics is broken down into three categories: iconic, symbolic, and indexical.

This set of slides uses the famous Tim Hortons cup of coffee, as a powerful connector between people over a timeless number of years. It all means something to us, and while it is a similar visual image, it represents a unique experience.

Your assignment is to pick a similar iconic image, or video, or any visual representation of something symbolic and explain the relevance to you, or to the person (s) in the video or image. Enjoy!
