Theme: Observing the sky (Stargazing) for 1st Grade. Using standards

II. Describe characters, settings, and major events in a story, or pieces of information in a text. (RI&RL).

III. Make a response to a text, author, theme, or personal experience (e.g., poem, dramatization, artwork, or other) and Objective: Students will be able to recognize and list the features of many planets in our solar system for lesson one. Objective: Students will be able to recognize and name the many constellations that may be seen in the night sky for lesson two. Objective: Students will be able to produce a piece of art that depicts the night sky for lesson three. What are three developmentally appropriate formative assessments that are appropriate for each lesson? At least one formative assessment must use technology. Only one formative assessment for each lesson may be paper and pencil. What is one summative assessment that can be implemented at the end of the unit to assess levels of mastery of each standard and objective? The summative assessment must directly align to the objectives and the standards, so that the students can demonstrate the skill required in the objectives.
