A. A number of patients in your department are showing signs of infection with your selected pathogen. You have been appointed to get identify the pathogen causing the infection.
B. Which of the techniques described in Chapter 8 of your textbook could we use to identify the pathogen? Describe the process for isolation and identifying the pathogen.
C. Identify your selected pathogen, list the major characteristics of this pathogen, and the disease it causes. Include a discussion of the pathogen's classification (i.e., fungus, bacteria, virus, helminth, etc.).
D. What steps will you take to control the spread of the pathogen? Describe at least one factor that needs to be considered before deciding on the most appropriate method of microbial control.
E. Include any interesting information you may have found in your research.
